Barry Long

 

 

 

Barry Long has been a spiritual advisor for over 35 years. He is widely recognized for his original teaching on love which is the first to distinguish love from sex, and has transformed the love lives of many around the world." He is the author of many books which have been published in 11 languages.

Barry was born in Sydney, Australia in 1926 and was married with 2 children by the time he reached his twenties. He was an editor of a Sunday newspaper and press secretary in the New South Wales Parliament.

During his early thirties he began to become disillusioned with his material life and in 1964 he abandoned everything and went to India. It was in India that he experienced a spiritual crisis which he called his "realization of immortality" and then four years later a "transcendental realization", a contact with a depth of consciousness from which his knowledge of universal reality ultimately derived.

Long considered himself a tantric master and claimed that unhappiness arise because men and women have forgotten how to love each other. He started his public teaching in England and later went on to teach worldwide. In 1984 he recorded an audio cassette Making Love: Sexual Love the Devine Way which was later published as a book.
